In 2000 the first SiteControl™ came into being. Written in TCL and using flat files for a database and .shtml files (old fashioned CGI interface) for integration it was designed to allow BIA Solutions to generate a site quickly from modular components. Then it would allow us to walk away from the client leaving them with a back-end that allowed even the most non-technical person to maintain a web site.
Over four years a great deal can change from what you thought when you first created a product to what the marketplace really needs.
SiteControl™ is now up to version 4.3. The product uses a MySQL database and has been completely rewritten in PHP.
How good is the latest version? Well you are seeing the 4.0 version in operation right now. This site is always maintained with the latest full version of the product.
There is a phrase that has been around as long as consultants and people selling products have been around. "Do they eat their own dog food." In our case we believe in our products and use them ourselves.
SiteControl™ uses a C-frame or modified C-frame template, some complex programming and an integrated database to present a web site to a user. But more than a standard Content Management System with a back-end that can be used by a non-technical user, we have also added program modules that integrate into the product to generate specific application-based pages.
These include modules to:
- Collect contact information from web site visitors that:
- Sends e-mails to a default address
- send e-mail to different addresses based on "reason" selection
- Post dated messages to the site
- Provide files for view or download
- Display a customizable list of links to other helpful sites (i.e. news articles and resources)
- Post a list of frequently asked questions with answers
- Display Products and/or Services
- Display Job Opportunities
- Have a photo gallery
- List your restaurant's menu [coming soon]
- Have a public events calendar [coming soon]
- and more
The product offers an enhanced navigation scheme where we can create side navigation two levels deep using a tree structure, a top flat navigation, a bottom pull-down selection component that mirrors the tree navigation, and all second level navigation is created as tabs for additional ease of use.
Based on what modules you decide to use, the complexity of the graphics and the C-frame you select, costs can run as low as $750 (C-frame, SiteControl Manager, Navigation, Pages and sub-pages only with your graphics.) to over $10,000 for the application.
We look forward to helping you decide if SiteControl™ will fit your needs.
